Call for Submissions!

A painter paints pictures on canvas. But musicians paint their pictures on silence. ~ Leopold Stokowski

Music is the silence between the notes. ~ Claude Debussy

There is no such thing as an empty space or an empty time. There is always something to see, something to hear. In fact, try as we may to make a silence, we cannot. ~ John Cage

The Complex Silence Series is looking for new and established ambient artists who would like to contribute their music to the Series’ growing discography.

Each Complex Silence release spotlights an individual artist.

Submissions may be a single long-form ambient piece or a collection of tracks, two or more.

The creative challenge: your submission explores enigmatic and abstract ambient music composed entirely of extremely subtle or slow changes, dissonant harmonies, stretched-out harmonics, abstract tone washes, layers of mystical atmospheres, or field recordings, but without straying too far from beautiful and mysterious ambient music.

Complex Silence is not about overtly industrial ambient or excessively dark ambient music.

Of course, the best way to learn about the Complex Silence Series and the style of music we are seeking is to listen to the artists and releases of Series itself:
