Mystified- Secret Tapes Remastered [treetrunk 130]

In 2010, Mystified released a popular netrelease through Bump Foot called, “Secret Tapes”. The release was comprised of droney techno pieces built around snippets of Lyndon Johnson speaking. Johnson’s voice was recorded to secret tapes during his Presidency and later extracted. “Secret Tapes” was an exploration of the mystery and intrigue surrounding the American Presidency, and it interested thousands of listeners.

In early 2011, Thomas of Mystified revisited the song projects for “Secret Tapes” and remastered them from the ground up using 24-bit audio. The mp3s on this remastered release were rendered from 24-bit wav files, and the FLAC files are directly encrypted from them. Thomas hopes you enjoy the greatly improved sound quality!

Digital Mass- Complex Silence 11 [treetrunk 129]

Digital Mass, a mysterious ambient drone ensemble hearkening from the shores of Australia, have been regaling the internet with their many creations since 2010. This time, the Mass have crafted a massive drone, very deep, with subtle harmonics and washes of subdued noise. Reminiscent of the rocky shores of their home continent, Complex Silence 11 evokes an air of mystery.

We at Treetrunk Records love a mystery– how about you? Why not take a journey into the mists, and see where the Digital Mass lead us. Though we may never quite find ourselves home again, at least we will be in a wilder and more primal place.

Mystified’s “Skywatchers 2” Remastered, Available In Lossless

In 2008, mystified released a greatly-received ambient drone album through Small Doses Records called “Skywatchers”. Not only was “Skywatchers” popular, it was also critically acclaimed, with nary a negative review.

Mystified decided to revisit the drone pieces from “Skywatchers”, setting them to techno and electronica sounds, for “Skywatchers 2”. This follows mystified’s pattern of blending abstract drones and beats. “Skywatchers 2” is, then, a remix album, the beats breathing new life into the original sounds.

NOTE: As of January 29, 2011, “Skywatchers 2” has been remastered from the ground up, from 24-bit audio. A new version of “Mad Galaxy Remix” has been posted and all files have been re-created and are available in hi-fi mp3 or 24-bit FLAC.
