Jack Hertz- The Burning Ember Of Stingy Jack [treetrunk 337]

“With its origin in the Gaelic celebration, ‘Samhain’. Halloween is my favorite holiday for so many reasons. I like to carve my own sonic pumpkin to mark the occasion. Speaking of pumpkins. This year, I have something with late-60s modular-synth styled piece titled, ‘The Burning Ember of Stingy Jack’. My homage to the legend of the Jack-O-Lantern.”- Jack Hertz, 2015

Mystified- Sovereign [treetrunk 336]

“Sovereign” is mystified’s tribute to Rapoon’s excellent “Cold War: Drum ‘N’ Bass” double cd, out on Caciocavallo Records, 2001. Thomas of Mystified has been listening to Rapoon’s album quite a bit of late, and inspired by it and recent international events, felt it would be appropriate to create an album hearking back to the original– though to resurrect or banish a spectre, that is one of the album’s central questions.

Lux Inaccessibilis- The Windhover [treetrunk 335]

Lux Inaccessibilis is the project of a Benedictine monk. This work was inspired by the poem ‘The Windhover’ by Gerard Manley Hopkins-

I CAUGHT this morning morning’s minion, king-
dom of daylight’s dauphin, dapple-dawn-drawn Falcon, in his riding
Of the rolling level underneath him steady air, and striding
High there, how he rung upon the rein of a wimpling wing
In his ecstasy! then off, off forth on swing,
As a skate’s heel sweeps smooth on a bow-bend: the hurl and gliding
Rebuffed the big wind. My heart in hiding
Stirred for a bird,—the achieve of; the mastery of the thing!

Brute beauty and valour and act, oh, air, pride, plume, here
Buckle! AND the fire that breaks from thee then, a billion
Times told lovelier, more dangerous, O my chevalier!

No wonder of it: shéer plód makes plough down sillion
Shine, and blue-bleak embers, ah my dear,
Fall, gall themselves, and gash gold-vermillion.

Various Artists- The UFO 1 Remix Project [treetrunk 334]

Mystified’s “The UFO Hoax” was a very successfull netrelease. Thomas of Mystified wondered if others had consulted Blue Book messages regarding the appearance of mysterious others, and asked a body of excellent musicians to use his same source material to concoct their own mixes of the piece “UFO 1”.
