Thomas Park- My Heart Remains In The River Valley [treerunk 751]

Many songs and records have been written about Africa. I wanted to create something quite sincere, in fact, and to use my remaining knowledge of Swahili phrases and their pronunciation. What is our real connection to this place? For one thing, life emerged in the Tigris and Euphrates river valley. Africa is the origin of human life as we know it. And I have come to think of its endemic cultures differently as I get older. I call them early cultures, I call them authentic cultures. I no longer call them primitive.

Special Thanks To Mr. Lutfiyaa, my University Swahili Instructor– He might not appprove of all of my pronunciations and edits, but I thank him for his teachings, and hope he would appreciate the spirit in which the songs are intended.

DJ Frankenstone- Encrypted Transmission [treetrunk 748]

Encrypted Transmission is a netrelease comprised of Generative works by DJ Frankenstone.

Materials used were mostly home-created or home collected phonographic works.

The author feels the effect is to offer a sort of controlled chaos of musical and spoken sounds from various periods in Western Post-Industrial culture.

Not to delve to deeply into politics, but the now-familiar rhetoric of the countercultural underground has begun to sound more like plans for an art project by Bansky or some kind of mental escape– even a plot bed for some cable mini-series. This in part may be due to the apparent success of the PC movement to transform dialogue on these subjects from the level of the language up.

We are now everyday revolutionaries, dreamers, escapists– no longer taking the form of isolated pockets of glamorous and controversial figures.

Does this reflect ubiquity? Maybe the revolution has already happened, in some ways, or for the most part.

In any case, the rhetoric sounds quiet familiar by now.
